Belgrade

درباره شهر

Belgrade, a city of very tumultuous history, is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was laid in ruins some sixty times, but it always rose back to its original glory. This city with a turbulent history is a vibrant party town that has charmed many visitors over time. The city lies on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers and it where west meets east, socialist blocks are squeezed between art nouveau masterpieces, and remnants of the Habsburg legacy contrast with Ottoman relics. In the old part of town, Stari Grad, is where you find the largest part of the architectural, cultural and historical heritage of Belgrade. The National Museum of Serbia, the Ethnographic Museum and the city’s most important museum, the Residence of Princess Ljubica, are all located in the Old Town. Belgrade's top sight, Kalemegdan Fortress, is also situated in the old town above the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. Kalemegdan is a huge park and fortress complex and offers a lot to see for people interested in old castle ruins or those who want to stroll and relax in a park. The grounds of the park are full of ruins, monuments, several museums and a couple of other places of interest. Don't forget to take a look at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and the statue of Pobednik, one of the symbols of Belgrade. Belgrade is a very vivid city, there are lots of bars, pubs, cafes and other places to hang out. The city has an exuberant cultural life, there are about 50 theatres, two major opera houses, heaps of museums, galleries, literary evenings, cultural centres and libraries. And to top it all off, Belgradians are so friendly, hospitable, chatty, warmhearted and with a great sense of humour, one can hardly feel a stranger here, somehow you blend in inevitably and you can easily find company, even if you don't seek for it.

Private Day Trip To Budapest From Belgrade

روز 0 - Private Day Trip To Budapest From Belgrade
Meet your driver at your accommodation in Belgrade and settle into your private vehicle for the 3,5-hour journey to Budapest.( 365 km, only highway) On arrival, greet your local guide and set off on a comprehensive 3-hour city tour of Budapest, starting with the view from Gellert Hill. Enjoy an unbeatable panorama of the city and the Danube River as your guide fills you in on the city's two halves : Buda, the ancient seat of the Hungarian Kings and Pest, the heart of the modern city. Start your explorations in Buda with a tour of the medieval castle and follow your guide around Trinity Square, Fisherman's Bastion and Matyas church. After snapping photos of the grand Buda Castle, which dates from the 13th century, cross the iconic Chain Bridge into Pest, stopping to admire the magnificent Hungarian Parliament Building on the waterfront. Browse the shops along lively Vaci Street, then take a peek inside the opulent St. Stephen's Basilica, where the star attraction is, somewhat bizarrely, the right hand of its namesake King Stephen. Next, stroll down the elegant Andrassy Avenue, home to the lavish Hungarian State Opera House, and marvel over the monuments of Heroes Square. For lunch (own expense), follow your guide's recommendations and tuck into some traditional Hungarian cuisine at a local restaurant. Gulyas stew is a good choice. In the afternoon, enjoy around three hours of free time to wander around the city independently, hit the shops or take a soak at the famous Gellert Bath (admission not included). Around 5.00pm, meet up with your guide for the return trip to Belgrade and finish your tour with drop-off at your hotel.

Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci Day Trip from Belgrade

روز 2 - Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci Day Trip from Belgrade
Depart from Belgrade at 9 am and proceed to picturesque Fruška Gora, which represents a natural reserve and a sacred area that hosts 17 functioning monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Fruška Gora was a shelter for Serbian people during the Ottoman rule over Serbia, preserving heritage and historical legacy of the nation. The tour will then continue in Sremski Karlovci which is located at the bottom of Fruška Gora, and presents a real gem of Serbian culture and spirituality. It's a real 'museum town' featuring sites such as a Baroque city center, Patriarchy, Cathedral of Saint Nicolas and Catholic Church of Saint Trinity, also the first Serbian gymnasium built in 1881, and the Library of Karlovac gymnasium. It's also famous for wine production and the annual festival 'Wineball'. Next visit one of the traditional wineries and try locally produced wine made of traditional sorts of grape!
Our next stop is Petrovaradin, where the Fortress is located. It was built of medieval fortification foundation by Austrians in the 17th and 18th century in order to defend themselves from Turks. The Fortress is sometimes called 'Danube's Gibraltar' for its strategic position. Nowadays the Fortress is famous for one of the most prestigious music festivals EXIT.
You then proceed to the left bank of Novi Sad, capital of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Thanks to its geographical position, Novi Sad used to border between two Empires – Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman -- and in 1748 Queen Maria Theresa proclaimed Novi Sad 'free royal city' Neoplanta. Melting pot of different nations and ethnic groups, Novi Sad with its 250,000 population is a real multicultural ambient and an example of true modern European metropolis. Tour in Novi Sad is a walking tour in the center of the city. You'll see Dunavska and Zmaj Jovina Street that compose city's pedestrian zone, the City Hall, Catholic Church, old city center, house of Albert Einstein's wife Mileva, cultural foundation Matica Srpska, Synagogue and city beach Štrand. Upon the sightseeing seize the free time in the city and try local cuisine in a traditional Vojvodina restaurant (optional).
